NORTH WEST SYDNEY DERMATOLOGY & LASER is a specialist dermatology clinic dealing with all types of skin disorders & skin cancers. All doctors working here are dermatologists. We specialise in the management of skin cancers and Dr Stephens has a special interest in the use of laser and various types of light in the management of skin disorders & skin cancer. We have 2 surgical theatres and can remove most skin cancers in our Rouse Hill rooms. We also offer non-surgical removals where suitable and we are the first clinic in Australia to offer OCT-guided skin cancer removal.
Dr Robert Stephens FACD is the principal dermatologist and a fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. He has been appointed as a spokesperson/ advocate for the college since 2017. He received his specialist qualification in 2000. He is also a member of the American, British, European and Canadian Associations of Dermatologists. He has a special interest in photodynamic treatment of skin cancer, daylight photodynamic therapy, vascular laser as well as surgical removal of skin cancers.
Dr John de Launey FACD is a fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists and has over 25 years experience in dermatology. Dr de Launey is a former head of The Skin Hospital (formerly Skin & Cancer Foundation) in Sydney and has a special interest in surgical removal of skin cancers.
Appointments are necessary and a referral is generally required (a referral is needed to claim the Medicare rebate)
WHAT IS A DERMATOLOGIST?
Dermatologists are doctors who have successfully completed years of extra training (minimum 6 years) and have been awarded specialist recognition in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers and other skin diseases. Dermatologists in Australia can be recognised by the initials "FACD" following their name. Doctors without the FACD qualification are not dermatologists.
